On August 29th, 2015 the group #VagaVivaCuritiba decided to create parklets in the extension of the Vicente Machado Avenue, in Curitiba. This avenue is an important axis within this central area in the city.
The group, comprised of urban designers, professors, and artists, decided to create the “The Living Parking”, which occupied some parallel parking spaces through out the avenue. Some students from the Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) implemented their designs of chairs for the public to use.
During the night, when the bars were open, most people used the parklets to hang out at the street. At that moment, the avenue was not for the cars anymore, but for the people, pedestrians, and anyone who wanted to.
